Hello! Thanks for taking a look at my "personal" page! So,
you want to know a little bit more about what I do outside of Three
Quarter Ale?
Well, I am a full-time musician and actor, which means that I'm happy
and poor. When I was little, we used to take a lot of car trips, and
to keep my sister Shoshana and me from fighting, my family would sing
through every Peter Paul and Mary song we knew, pirating their harmonies
and occasionally making up our own. Pretty soon we were halfway through
our trip and Shoshana and I hadn't kicked each other yet!
In High School I began acting (a happy accident which totally changed
my life... more on that another time). In 1990, I began the BFA Musical
Theater program at Syracuse University. One of my favorite projects
while I was there was Every Five Minutes (e5m for short), a group of
actors who worked in conjunction with the university's rape crisis center.
I was one of the founding members of a group of about four women and
two men who discovered that one of the most effective tools for educating
the other students about rape and sexual assault was theater: essentially,
show them the scene in which a date, teacher, whatever is about to commit
what is clearly (to the audience) non-consensual sexual activity, stop
the scene as soon as the audience is certain what's coming next, and
then talk with the audience, first as the character, then as the crisis
center advocate. Pretty cool, huh? It was amazingly effective...If you
e-mail me, I'll give
you a more detailed scoop!
Anyway, after college I moved back home to Atlanta, and started working
in regional theater. Since then I've worked as an Equity actor in both
Atlanta and New York, been the Music Director and Conductor for the
Zimrah! Girls Choir of Atlanta, I've directed a yearly musical at Temima
Girls High School with some truly wonderful kids... and, oh yeah, I
sing in this band called Three Quarter Ale! :-)!
When not doing any of THAT, you'll most likely find me reading, walking
outside or sitting in some park, reading, trying out new restaurants
with dear friends, or reading.
Thanks for looking in!
